In vivo human-hamster somatic cell fusion indicated by glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase and lactate dehydrogenase profiles.

چکیده
Transplantation of a human lymphoma to the cheek pouches of unconditioned, adult golden hamsters resulted in permanently transplantable tumors which grow progressively and kill their hosts. This tumor system, GW-478, has a hamster-specific láclate dehydrogenase isoenzyme mobility pattern and both human and hamster glucose 6-phosphate dehyrogenase enzyme profiles when propagated in the hamster or in vitro, thus suggesting that GW478 is a human-hamster hybrid.

Cytological mapping of human X-linked genes by use of somatic cell hybrids involving an X-autosome translocation (mouse-hamster-human X-linked markers).
Man-mouse and man-Syrian hamster somatic hybrid cell lines were prepared by fusion of mouse A9 or hamster TG2 cells, which are deficient in hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl transferase, with cells of a diploid fibroblastic strain, KOP-1, derived from a woman heterozygous for an X-autosome translocation. 61 clones were derived in nonselective medium and 85 sublines of these were derived in se...

INHIBITION OF HUMAN ERYTHROCYTE GLUCOSE 6-PHOSPHATE DEHYDROGENASE ACTIVITY BY DEHYDROEPIANDROSTERONE AND RELATED STEROIDS.
The inhibitory effects of several steroids on G6PD activity using intact erythrocytes are reported. Incubation of whole blood with dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) resulted in 42% and 12% inhibition in the enzyme activity in the presence and absence of oxygen, respectively. Addition of epinephrine and/or aminophylline into the incubation medium caused further enzyme inhibition suggesting a po...
متن کاملGlucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency Associated with Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anemia in an Iranian Family
Sickle cell-thalassemia associated with glucose- 6-phosphate dehydrogenese deficiency is reported in an Iranian family. The father had sickle trait and G.6.P.D. deficiency, the mother minor thalassemia, one of the sons siclc:le ceH-thailasemiia., the oth-er sickle cell trait; the daughter had sickle cell-thalassemia and was carrier of G.6.P.D. deficiellcy.

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) in humans is an X-chromosome-linked disorder and housekeeping enzyme, vital for the survival of every cell. It catalyses the oxidation of glucose-6-phosphate to 6-phospho gluconate in the first committed step of the pentose phosphate pathway, which provides cells with pentoses and reducing power in the form of NADPH. NADPH is required to protect the cell...
